CHF-Lebanon: Festival Kicks Off Bebnine’s New Produce Market

Through the USAID-funded TAMKIN program, CHF has been working with municipalities in Northern Lebanon since 2008 to help them become more effective in leading local socio-economic development through democratic engagement with the private sector and citizenry.
As a part of this effort, CHF and the Rene Moawad Foundation (RMF) working with the Bebnine municipality and the Union of Municipalities of the coast and center of Qaytaa hosted “Ramadaniyyat Akkar – Bebnine 2011,” a festival and exhibition August 16th to August 19th. The celebration took place in conjunction with the opening of the Bebnine Produce Market. The new “Farmer-to-Consumer” market will help farmers expand their produce sales and increase their incomes. The three-day festival included poetry and music and was attended by more than 40 organizations and 1,000 individuals from Bebnine and surrounding communities.
