VIDEO: Electronic Food Voucher Program Assists Vulnerable Families in the West Bank and Gaza

Last year, Global Communities worked with USAID and the World Food Programme to provide food assistance to 203,000 people in the West Bank and Gaza. Nimat and her family are one of 35,000 who received electronic food vouchers, allowing them to shop with dignity and boost the local economy.
Nimat lives in the old city of Nablus in the West Bank with her mother, sisters, and brother. Between the rising costs of food and medicine they need, they are struggling to make ends meet. Nimat applied for USAID’s electronic food voucher program, which provides vulnerable families with electronic debit cards allowing them to purchase locally produced nutritious food while boosting the local economy. It also allows people like Nimat to go to the market and shop with dignity. Nimat is proud to take care of her family “It’s a nice feeling, looking after my mother and sisters and taking care of them. It’s the best thing.”
