Sherrie Legendre

Sherrie Legendre is a Licensed Midwife (LM) and Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) and the founder of Wise Roots Midwifery, a private midwifery practice dedicated to holistic prenatal, labor, birth, and postpartum care. Serving families across Los Angeles, Riverside, and the San Bernardino Inland Empire, Sherrie combines rigorous clinical training with a patient-centered approach to support safe, informed, and empowering birth experiences.

Sherrie’s decision to pursue midwifery was shaped by a recognition of the significant and well-documented disparities in maternal health outcomes affecting Black women and communities of color in the United States. Committed to addressing these gaps through direct, high-quality clinical care, she established Wise Roots Midwifery as a practice where culturally responsive care, patient education, and clinical excellence are equally prioritized. Her work reflects a broader professional commitment to improving access to safe, dignified maternity care for all families and operates under a wholistic model that encompasses the full continuum of perinatal care, including prenatal nutrition counseling and birth education, standard-of-care laboratory and ultrasound assessments, labor and birth attendance with newborn examination, Midwifery enhanced doula services for hospital-based births, postpartum and lactation support, well-person exams, and community health education. All services are guided by evidence-based standards while honoring the individual preferences and goals of each family.

Midwife Sherrie views the presence of Black midwives in communities as essential infrastructure — not a supplement to care, but a cornerstone of it. Through Wise Roots Midwifery, she is building a space where all families are seen, protected, and celebrated at one of the most profound moments of their lives.
