Yesterday, the Association of Nonprofit Professionals (AFP) hosted 1,200 fundraising professionals and philanthropists in Downtown, San Diego to celebrate National Philanthropy Day (NPD). NPD is a special day set aside each year to show appreciation for all that has been accomplished in the Culture of Philanthropy. We were there to show appreciation for four special honorees who are a part of the PCI family.

Carol Lazier, the Moxie Foundation and UPS have been loyal supporters of PCI throughout the years and we are grateful for their leadership in the San Diego community. The United Way is our neighbor, literally, as our offices are right down the road from each other. The United Way has been a big partner in corporate philanthropy with PCI, expanding our mission and gaining PCI supporters.

National Philanthropy Day is also the largest fundraising event for the San Diego Chapter of AFP. This support from the event helps to provide scholarships for young fundraising professionals and provide webinars, workshops, and many professional development opportunities for fundraising professionals in San Diego. As a development professional for PCI and board member for the San Diego Chapter of AFP, I am proud of the success of the event and the opportunities it will provide our development community. It was wonderful to highlight philanthropy in San Diego and the incredible impact it has made in our community.
