Global Communities Honduras Hosts Discussion on Slavery in the 21st Century
U.S. Ambassador Lisa Kubiske speaks on the topic of combating slavery in the 21st century.
U.S. Ambassador Lisa Kubiske, Global Communities Honduras and the Inter-Agency Committee Against the Commercial Sexual Exploitation and Trafficking in Honduras (CICESCT) conducted a talk entitled “Slavery in the 21st Century” which was held at National Autonomous University of Honduras (UNAH) on January 31, 2014.
In addition to to Ambassador Kubiske, Attorney Nora Urbina President of the Board of CICESCT, Attorney Karla Cave from the Government of Honduras, Ms. Julieta Castellanos Chancellor of UNAH and Brian Husler Country Director for Global Communities Honduras were present.
Ambassador Kubiske urged the audience members who represented government agencies, the police and armed forces, civil society organizations, universities and students to work together to combat modern slavery and for called for strengthening the efforts of all sectors against human trafficking involving girls, boys, women and men. 
The event was sponsored by Global Communities as part of the Institutional Support Program to Combat Trafficking funded by the U.S. Department of State and in conjunction with U.S. President Barack Obama’s declaration of National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month.
