Summary of Global Communities’ Work in Nutrition-Related Activities
Since 1952, Global Communities has served as a conduit for sustainable and transformative development for individuals, communities and institutions in over 100 countries. Our successful programs address underlying conditions that make individuals susceptible to poverty, including conflict, limited access to clean water, inadequate shelter, low agricultural outputs, food insecurity and inequitable economic opportunities. These conditions not only perpetuate poverty but also are major contributors to influence behaviors and norms that put individuals at risk for a wide-range of preventable diseases such as HIV, tuberculosis, malaria and waterborne infections like cholera and diarrhea. The causes of malnutrition, and maternal/child morbidity and mortality are also rooted in poverty.
