U.S. Government Supporting the Fight Against Human Trafficking in Honduras

TEGUCIGALPA, M.D.C. – The Government of the United States of America, through the Office to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons, Department of State, has donated 15 million Lempiras (equivalent to U.S. $ 750,000) for the implementation of a program to combat to trafficking in Honduras.
The Institutional Support Programme against Trafficking (SICTE, for its acronym in English), is the second initiative against human trafficking to the Global Communities (formerly International CHF) will implement in Honduras with funds provided by the Government of the United States of America.
 
This new initiative will help to expand cooperation between civil society organizations and government institutions for the prosecution of persons involved in trafficking, efforts to improve the protection and rehabilitation of those who have been victims, and to raise awareness among groups vulnerable population in Honduras to prevent them from becoming prey of persons engaged in trafficking.
 
Gobierno de los Estados Unidos de América apoya con 15 millones de Lempiras lucha contra la trata de personas

TEGUCIGALPA, M.D.C. – El Gobierno de los Estados Unidos de América, a través de la Oficina de Control y Combate a la Trata de Personas del Departamento de Estado, ha donado 15 millones de Lempiras (equivalente a US$750,000) para la implementación de un programa para el combate a la trata de personas en Honduras.
El programa Apoyo Institucional contra la Trata de Personas (SICTE, por sus siglas en inglés), es la segunda iniciativa contra la trata de personas que la organización Global Communities (antes CHF Internacional) implementará en Honduras con fondos proporcionados por el Gobierno de los Estados Unidos de América.
Esta nueva iniciativa contribuirá a ampliar la cooperación entre las organizaciones de sociedad civil y las instituciones estatales para el procesamiento de personas dedicadas a la trata, para mejorar los esfuerzos de protección y rehabilitación de aquellas personas que han sido víctimas, y para concientizar a los grupos poblacionales más vulnerables en Honduras para prevenir que ellos se conviertan en presas de personas dedicadas a la trata.
