SAN DIEGO — Project Concern International (PCI) will host its 28th annual Hands Across Borders gala on Saturday, Nov. 4, highlighting local and global health successes and honoring heroes working to improve the lives of millions around the world.

“We have made tremendous advances in many areas of public health thanks to incredible people and organizations like the ones we will honor at Hands Across Borders,” said Carrie Hessler-Radelet, President & CEO of PCI. “Today more than ever, we need these heroes who help organizations like PCI reduce child and maternal mortality, educate people about issues like hygiene and sanitation or chronic disease prevention, and ensure everyone has access to essential nutrients and vital health services.”

Honorees include Molly Eldredge, a local philanthropist who has championed PCI’s efforts to enhance health, end hunger and overcome hardship both at home in San Diego and around the globe; Spencer Kirk, a successful businessman in the private sector whose nonprofit has distributed over 870 million doses of vitamins and minerals to at-risk women and children living in the hardest-to-reach areas of the world; and the Medtronic Foundation, which supports PCI’s community health work in Tijuana.

Proceeds will benefit PCI’s programming and efforts to reach 20 million people a year by 2020.
