Julie Steiger

Vice President, Program Operations & Delivery
Julie Steiger is the Vice President, Program Operations & Delivery at Global Communities. In this role she provides oversight of project delivery, leadership on establishing minimum standards and support to align country office needs with Global Support Team offerings. Her main focus is on facilitating effective, efficient and compliant program operations providing support, oversight and strategic direction for both U.S.-based and country office leadership.
Julie’s experience includes both Global Support Team and country-based roles, working with various international non-governmental organizations, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and private sector to oversee the delivery of humanitarian, development and stabilization programming. She has worked in the Africa, Middle East, Europe and Eurasia Regions on humanitarian and stabilization programming including in Chechnya, South Sudan, Jordan (Iraq and Syria refugee response), Turkey, Syria and Ukraine. She has also worked in various countries in the southern Africa region supporting health systems strengthening, malaria and HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment. Her expertise is in the protection sector, organizational development, root cause analysis, context analysis, conflict sensitivity and partnerships.
Julie has a bachelor’s degree in English Literature and Russian Studies from the University of Rhode Island, a master of arts in Eurasian, Russian and East European Studies from Georgetown University and completed Executive Women in Leadership and Change Management Certificates from Cornell University. She is also a certified yoga instructor.
