Global Communities Welcomes Ceasefire in Gaza
Published 01/15/2025 by Global Communities
Global Communities welcomes the announcement of a ceasefire in Gaza, marking a crucial step towards ending the devastating conflict that has caused immense suffering for countless individuals. This deal brings a glimmer of hope for the people of Gaza and Israel, who have endured unimaginable hardships over the past year.
The conflict has resulted in the loss of over 46,000 Palestinian lives, most of them civilians, and has left many more injured and displaced. The humanitarian situation in Gaza has reached catastrophic levels, with health care, water and other essential services operating at a fraction of their capacity. The ceasefire provides an opportunity to prevent further civilian harm, surge desperately needed humanitarian aid into the region and reunite hostages with their families.
“Our teams on the ground have witnessed firsthand the immense suffering caused by this conflict. The ceasefire offers a chance to address the urgent needs of the population and to work towards a future where all individuals can live in peace and security,” said Kelly Van Husen, Vice President of Humanitarian Assistance and Technical Quality and Impact for Global Communities.
Global Communities has been on the ground in Gaza since the start of the war, providing lifesaving assistance to those affected by the conflict. Our teams have faced significant challenges, including the loss of cherished colleagues and the constant threat of violence. Despite these obstacles, we remain committed to supporting the people of Gaza and advocating for their rights and well-being.
We call on all parties to uphold the terms of the ceasefire and to ensure the protection of civilians and humanitarian workers. It is imperative that humanitarian aid is allowed to flow freely into Gaza to address the urgent needs of the population. We also urge the international community to support efforts to achieve a lasting peace that addresses the root causes of the conflict and ensures the dignity and security of all individuals in the region.
