Kabeh Sumbo, 10,000 Women Program Graduate, Featured on Voice of America

Liberian business woman, Kabeh Sumbo understands perseverance. Liberia’s economy was devastated by 14 years of civil conflict and Sumbo, returning home in 2007, found she had nothing. “When I returned from Guinea, it was very hard…everything was gone.”
In order to help women entrepreneurs like Sumbo and rebuild Liberia’s struggling post-war economy, Goldman Sachs launched the 10,000 Women program. Implemented by CHF International/Global Communities, the program provides business management training to women entrepreneurs.
Since graduating from the program in 2010, Sumbo has grown her cooking oil company, Passama Agriculture Trading. What began is small investment in one gallon of cooking oil, is now a company that ships products internationally including their first shipment to the U.S.
Sumbo discusses her motivations and goals for the future on Voice of America’s In Focus.  Her interview can be viewed below and runs between 7:02 and 11:46.
