Rwanda: Civil Society Organizations trained, given portable video kits

Members of civil society organizations working with Global Communities (formerly CHF International) will now be able to document their activities in video form after receiving training how to use portable video kits.
The video kits are to benefit local partner organizations working with Ejo Heza, one of the programmes managed by Global Communities with funding from USAID to sustain lives of vulnerable groups.
The kit that is worth about $700 includes a video camera, projector, charger and a solar panel, all weighing less than 3 kg.
The three-day training was attended by 12 members drawn from partner organizations and Global Communities. The training covered theoretical and practical skills of handling a video camera, encoding, editing files, setting the scene among others.
One of the trainers, Mbabazi Drocella, who is an intern with Global Communities, said that the skills will enable her to document in video form the real changes in the lives of the beneficiaries.
“As opposed to writing success stories, it is hard to deny facts about changes in people’s lives that have been captured on video,” she said while experimenting with the video kit on one of the cooperatives supported by Global Communities in Gasabo District.
Concluding the training, lead trainer, Mathew York from One Media Player per Teacher, urged the members to utilize the skills acquired in supporting vulnerable groups.
