Global Communities and Local Organizations Mobilize to Provide Emergency Meals in Gaza
Published 01/24/2024 by Global Communities
Gaza Strip – Global Communities, in collaboration with Palestine Islamic Bank (PIB) and other partners, recently distributed meals to families displaced by the ongoing conflict in Gaza. The initiative reached over 2,800 families, amounting to assistance for more than 14,000 individuals. Each received at least two hot meals amid dropping winter temperatures.
In this collaborative effort, Global Communities worked alongside WEFAQ and with support from World Central Kitchen (WCK), which provided complementary diesel and cooking supplies.
“The support from PIB and our partnerships with WEFAQ and World Central Kitchen were instrumental in our efforts to relieve suffering and improve living conditions for families facing extreme hunger and a lack of basic necessities,” said Lana Abu-Hijleh, Global Communities Palestine Country Director.
The agreement with PIB facilitated Global Communities’ engagement with local suppliers in Gaza for the immediate distribution of meals. This initiative is in line with PIB’s Sustainable Social Responsibility Program, which emphasizes contributions to vital sectors and sustainable development efforts in Palestine.
“Our support for these families through this partnership with Global Communities is a direct reflection of our dedication to social responsibility and our ongoing efforts to improve living conditions in the region,” said Imad al-Sadi, General Manager of PIB.
