Global Communities: Committed to Assisting Refugees

Global Communities’ mission is to create long-lasting, positive and community-led change that improves the lives and livelihoods of vulnerable people across the globe. Today, there are few people more vulnerable than the people affected by the Syrian conflict, the displaced within Syria, the refugees across the region and beyond, and the host communities who receive them, whose public services are stretched to breaking point. Nearby, in Yemen, there are many millions also in desperate need of humanitarian assistance as conflict engulfs that country.

We are working in partnership with local NGOs and communities to alleviate human suffering across the region. Since 2014, we have been working with local partners to deliver critically-needed humanitarian assistance to vulnerable, conflict-affected populations in Northern Syria. We have partnered with UNHCR to assist Syrian refugees in Lebanon, and are working with USAID in Jordan to help host communities deal with the huge demographic shifts that are impacting the region, and to reduce tensions and relieve strain on public services. We are also assisting the displaced within Iraq and refugees and host communities inside TĂĽrkiye. And in Yemen, we are providing vital food and other humanitarian assistance to our partner communities.

We don’t believe development is something we do for people, but something we do with them. We are the communities with whom we partner. Many of our employees are from the very countries and very communities where we work, and our work would not function without hundreds of community volunteers who help implement our programs, people whose commitment and purposefulness in light of adversity is extraordinary and inspires all of us.

At Global Communities, we are absolutely committed to working with those most in need, and to providing the assistance they require to be able to take charge of their lives and livelihoods. You can read more about our work in Syria, Yemen, Jordan and Lebanon and below, you can read about some of the people with whom we’ve partnered to help them through the difficulties they face.
