Global Communities Welcomes Sheila Crowley, Chief of Staff

Silver Spring, Md. (April 2, 2019) – Global Communities is pleased to announce that Sheila Crowley has joined the organization as Chief of Staff. Crowley has extensive experience leading global strategy and program operations in government and nonprofit environments.
In her new role, Crowley will oversee both the strategic and annual planning processes for Global Communities, a leader in community-led international development and humanitarian assistance in 25 countries globally. Crowley will monitor and facilitate the organization’s many moving and inter-connected parts, enabling teams to work more effectively and efficiently across the organization globally.
Crowley joins Global Communities after serving as Vice President of Volunteer and Institutional Engagement at Habitat for Humanity International where she oversaw its global volunteer impact strategy, which included developing and recruiting the next generation of Habitat volunteers.
Prior to Habitat, Crowley served as Acting Director of the U.S. Peace Corps where she led 3,500 domestic and international employees supporting 7,200 Volunteers operating in 66 countries. During her time at Peace Corps, she spearheaded the development of Peace Corp’s five year strategic plan and implemented key program initiatives across global operations.

Crowley has a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Russian Studies from The Pennsylvania State University and a Master of Science in Information Science from Drexel University.
